Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore is a book about a guy who gets a job at a bookstore. This bookstore sells normal books that others would, but also loans books from the back shelves to specific returning customers. After a while, the guy decides to create a 3D model of the store out of boredom. While doing this, he somehow accidentally solves a difficult puzzle and gets invited to join a cult full of people trying to decode an old dead guy's book, which they believe contains the secret to immortality. Eventually, he manages to decode the book. I think the book has a nice story and an interesting mystery.

Pax is about a boy named Peter with a pet fox named Pax. When the Peter's father has to go to war and the Peter has to go live with his grandfather, they are forced to abandon Pax in the woods far from home. One day, Peter decides to run away to go looking for Pax. He goes on a journey, breaking his leg and also helping a war veteran remember who she was.
